On Friday 27th April, local company Whale took part in Business in the Community’s Big Shops' Showdown by running the Bangor Cancer Focus NI store to help raise vital funds for cancer care in Northern Ireland.

For one day only, Whale sold a selection of their marine and caravan leisure products in the shop at a discounted price as well as a selection of items from local company Pia Rossini. Customers also had the opportunity to enter the charity raffle on the day for a chance to win great prizes from local businesses and kids got to meet Walter the Whale and Genevieve the Goat!

In the run up to the main event, Whale employees held a charity bake off and bake sale to help add to our fundraising target and a whopping £246.89 was raised by our generous staff!

Congratulations goes to Kay Dempster and Heather Matchett for winning the 'Whale Showstopper' category, Charlene Brand for winning the 'Best Chocolate Bake' category and Joanne McCullough for winning the 'Best Cupcakes' category.

Congratulations also goes to all our raffle winners. A selection of whom are below.

We are delighted to announce that a total of £6,500 was raised throughout the challenge to help patients and families right here in Northern Ireland. We would like to thank everyone who donated and supported this worthwhile cause. Special thanks goes to Print Planet and SHO Communications who donated their services and those companies who donated to our raffle including Denroy, The Ava, The Boat House, The Salty Dog, The Marine Court, North Down Motors, Diamond, Cavagna UK, Pennine Leisure Supplies and Sunflower.
