Amy Sargent joined Whale on work experience with the marketing department to learn more about what is involved in the role day to day. Amy tells you in her own words.
‘My time at Whale has been a very exciting and enjoyable experience, where I have picked up on some new skills and have been given advice that will benefit me in my future plans. Throughout my time here I have been shown the many different roles within the marketing department and the time and effort it takes to become successful at it. I have taken a very big interest towards this sector and what is required for it, including video editing, behind the scenes of social media, web editing and much more.
I chose to come to Whale as I have been considering taking on marketing as a career, especially in an engineering business, but not really grasping the idea of what it contained, so I thought coming to this company would be the best to benefit me on giving me an idea of what it’s like to work in this kind of environment. I have learnt many different things about the business itself such as the products that are made to the process they go through as well as learning the ways in which the marketing team forward that information onto websites and social media sites for their customers to see.
My favourite thing about this whole experience was learning how to edit websites by uploading different images and files as well and working with Photoshop to correct certain images. I’ve also enjoyed being given little tasks to do which has helped me to develop certain skills and ideas that has given me a proper insight of what is required. I have very much enjoyed spending time in Whale along with the marketing team, Claire and Damian, as well as the rest of the staff and I now know for definite that this is the path I want to go down for a career.'
