Purchasing Officer

ABOUT THE JOB

Fantastic opportunity for an experienced Purchasing professional who is keen to further develop their skills working as part of an experienced purchasing team in a growing manufacturing company. As part of this role there will be additional responsibilities within the wider production team as a key point of contact for Whale order processing.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO SUCCEED

Applicants must be eager to further their career within procurement and be passionate about working with people, outgoing, bright and enthusiastic. The successful candidate will be an experienced purchasing officer who is able to work on their own initiative and as part of a team.

  • COMMUNICATION SKILLS - Excellent written and verbal communication / presentation and strong interpersonal / negotiation skills.
  • PLANNING AND ORGANISING - Strong organisational and analytical skills are required, along with the ability to methodically plan and prioritise workload efficiently and effectively.
  • STRONG IT SKILLS - IT literate with strong working knowledge of MS office suite as a minimum requirement.
  • COLLABORATIVE- A strong team player with evidence of close collaboration with various stakeholders such as colleagues/external partners or managers in order to achieve goals.

WE ARE LOOKING FOR

The successful candidate will report to the Senior Purchasing Officer and be responsible for establishing strategic relationships with key suppliers as well as ensuring parts are bought at a competitive price and delivered on time for production. They will be part of a small close knit team and will be required to collaborate with all other departments.

  • Key aspects of the role will be processing purchase orders, expediting deliveries as necessary, liaising with all stakeholders as well as ensuring customer orders are processed accurately and in a timely manner.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a purchasing role in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in ERP purchasing software packages i.e. AS400 / Mapics.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

DESIRABLE REQUIREMENTS

  • Degree level education or equivalent.
  • CIPS qualification.
  • Proficient in Microsoft packages including Outlook, Word and Excel.
